Can Salgueda is built into the walls of the oldest part of the village of Santa Pau, just in front of the Portal de Mar (Sea facing gate). It is one of the houses which was described by the famous Catalan writer Josep Pla as “a mass of dark stones around the castle and the church like a flock of sheep around a shepherd”. The house was probably originally used as an out-house for the castle. Can Salgueda was rebuilt in 2002 in accordance with the unique surroundings that make the old quarter of Santa Pau an Historic-Artistic national monument and at the same time offering guests a touch of comfort and happiness to either those who want to have a break or need to work with peace and quiet. Can Salgueda has two apartments named after the direction that the sitting room windows are facing: “Serra de Finestres” and “Volcà de Santa Margarida”. Both apartments have got an open plant sitting-room / dining-room / kitchen, a double bedroom, and another bedroom in the ‘attic’ ideal for youngsters. The sofa in the sitting room can also be used as a double bed. The apartments are fully equipped with all the usual household mod cons, cooker and television. There are enough plates and cutlery for 8 people in case guests decide to have visitors during their stay. The house has the following joint services: Basement cellar with clothes washing sink, washing machine and dryer, which can be accessed directly from the street outside.
